GOD IS SO GOOD!!!

7 Nov

Well, I have been gone for a few days, but I am here and more live than ever.

First things first, President Obama has won a second term. That is super excited.. I am so ready to see a diverse nation of people that can work together… I just see a more diverse people within the Democratic party… God is awesome and He heard the cries of his people…. FORWARD (not backwards)

While I’ve been away, I lost a person in my family. My uncle, Officer Richard Halford (and co-pilot Officer Shawn Smiley) lost their live’s here in Atlanta in the line of duty. They were flying around looking for a missing 9 year old and hit a power line. May God rest their souls and may comfort be given to their family in this time of need. We’ll miss you Unc.

As usual, I get quite a few pics from some of the most beautiful women and children and I am always stoked to share with you guys.

NATURALISTA: Cresent Jones
“My name is cresent jones. Im 25 years old and an army wife stationed in Colorado.
So I be been natural since 2008. But I continuously big chop. I’m 7 months preggers now with my 3rd child. And I’m addicted to braids. In September I crocheted some yarn in my hair. But when I took it down on Oct 3rd. My hair came out in clumps (I’m thinking it was due to the pregnancy) so the next day (Oct 4 2012) I talked my husband into getting the clippers and cutting it all off. I was very fine with my decision but then I started missing my braids so I got out my yarn and went to work. Yes I do my own hair. I didn’t want it to be too long Cuz it would be to heavy of course. Love the style and length. It didnt take long and it only cost one spool of yarn. I didn’t even use a full spool. :-). Love the results and I hope u guys realize that u can still braid a twa. :-).
P.s. I have long nails too lol.”

NATURALISTA: Shanda
“This is a pic of my baby’s locs before we combed them down three years ago. She was 12.”

NATURALISTA: Osarenren Williams
“This is my 17-month old daughter at the end of a 3-day fro out. Everyone loved her hair when trick-o-treating thru the neighborhood. Her favorite word when getting dressed is “pretty”, so I tell her that every time I do her hair as well.”

NATURALISTA: Ebony Hurt
“My naturally beautiful princess Nadia in a few of her many styles 🙂 She’ll be 4 next week and this Diva loves her natural hair! ♥”

Oooo, aren’t those babies just adorable?! I love them.

I blow dried my hair out and here I am.. Tried to do something fancy, but it didn’t work, so I’ve been kind of having a bad hair week… But I always say, naturals can get away with it because it looks like its done on purpose… lol

I did come across an interesting pic. I just wanted to share… Became though provoking.. What do you think?

And in closing.. I will leave you with a lovely quote to ponder on

POLITICS AND NATURAL HAIR: INTERESTING MIX

31 Oct

Yesterday was a very interesting day. On STOP CRYING OVER SPILLED PERM (my facebook page), we talked about politics and it got really touchy.. They say you shouldn’t discuss politics or religion with people, but I ALWAYS go against the grain… Just have to know what people think about things. I had to know why so many people were not voting.

Here are a few of the reasons why followers said I WILL NOT BE VOTING:

“i dont want neither of them in the chair”

“I don’t like anything about either of them. For myself, whoever wins will be my commander in chief regardless. If one is for veterans and the national defense, my family suffers. Either way I don’t like my options. So I am not voting.
Our forefathers fought for our right to vote, and I’m exercising my right not to… Because I can.”

“Im not saying things will not change..it starts with getting these liars out of government..dont pick the red pick the blue..they are on the same team ..with the same interest ..so im assuming you dont know anything about NWO..clearly..i can bet money on it obama and mitt is just chilling smoking cigar laughing and drinking scotch ..its all and illusion sweetness..we arent the land of the free as u think we are”

Very interesting to say the least… But I respect their beliefs and passion…. Loved the rhetoric.

I saw quite a few quotes that I liked yesterday, and as usual I just have to share. The first two are about hair and the last is just a way to get througha hectic day.

And this is the one that really tickled my fancy… hahahahahaha… I’ve definitely had similar thoughts.

I also received a really clever pyramid like the ones you’d get for the food chart… Very cool. Thanks to Dinothra

Here are a few of the naturalistas that sent in their pictures yesterday.. They are so pretty

Often people want to know about products to use on their natural hair, so I decided to talk about Olive oil and the benefits. I saw on CurlyNikki, so visit her site if you are interested in the original article.

What You Might Not Have KnownIt’s a well known fact that, olive oil can be a fantastic conditioner for hair but there are many other things about this essential oil that make it a great go-to for hair care. Olive oil is one of the top emollients that is known to penetrate the hair better than others. That doesn’t just mean that it nourishes and conditions. An olive oil treatment can improve the elasticity and strength …

of your hair far better than other essential oils. There are other even lesser known facts about olive oil. For instance, olive oil is not just an average emollient. It contains anti-inflammatory properties that promote scalp health and prevent dandruff. What’s more, olive oil is not likely to cause an allergic reaction, which makes it easier on sensitive skin and hair.

Methods and Oil Treatments

There are a couple of different ways to implement olive oil treatments. The first thing to keep in mind is that olive oil needs a way to absorb into the hair follicle. That is why users like both the wet method and the dry method.

Both methods or treatments begin with warming olive oil. Warm about a half a cup of olive oil in a microwaveable bowl or cup. The olive oil should be warm but not hot to the touch. If you have fine hair or prefer a lighter treatment, add coconut, sweet almond or jojoba oil.

Where Methods Differ

The next part depends on a couple of different things. Some users prefer wet and recently conditioned hair while others want the hair to be dry. If your hair is wet and conditioned, it will lock in the moisture and additional nutrients when the olive oil is applied. The downside is that olive oil is already slightly more difficult to apply due to the hair’s slipper nature. If you apply olive oil to dry hair, it has a similar effect, but many argue it doesn’t lock in as many nutrients as the wet treatment. Even so, it’s less of a mess than the wet method.

Whichever one you choose, place your oil-drenched hair into a shower cap or wrap it with plastic wrap. Let the olive oil sit for between 5–45 minutes before washing out in the shower. This depends on which treatment you use. Olive oil does well with minimal time, but giving it several dozen minutes may increase the effects. Many users recommend hopping in the shower and letting the steam do its thing to enhance the effects of the olive oil on the hair. Once you’ve washed it out, watch your step as the floor will be slick with oil. Towel dry and comb as usual.

Although there are arguably more popular essential oils, olive oil is well-known as a culinary ingredient and easy to obtain in any average grocery store. For food and for hair, olive oil has been used since the dawn of civilizations ranging from Mesopotamia to Ancient Egypt and Greece. It’s no wonder then, that olive oil is found in a variety of hair care products. Olive oil penetrates the hair cuticle so that the necessary moisture and nutrients are absorbed leaving your hair not only smoother, but shinier and healthier as well.

So, in closing, THANK YOU FOR VISITING MY PAGE. Embrace your natural hair and let your light so shine in the world.

What went on with STOP CRYING OVER SPILLED PERM

24 Oct

I have to say, that my facebook page has some of the loveliest naturalistas out there and I know because I’ve seen alot. Though yesterday wasn’t as eventful as I’d have liked it to be, we did remain productive.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Baggage.. We all have it and there is always someone willing to stick by you and help you empty out the baggage.

Those of you that know me or follow my facebook page know that I just love kids and locs. I found some of the cutest kids out on Pinterest and just had to make a collage of them to share you the world. Enjoy!!

Aren’t they just freaking cute? Yeah they are. One day I’ll have my own little bundle of joy(s). 😀

As always, I get quite a few pictures of lovely ladies that follow my page, STOP CRYING OVER SPILLED PERM

NATURALISTA: Sedarah McCray
“Hi, my name is Sedarah. I’m attempting to go natural w/o the bc.. It’s been about 6 months since I last had a relaxer..”

NATURALISTA: Shauna Vassell
“Hi,
I have been following you fb page for some time now and i love the hairstyles and the product reviews. They have really helped me in my transitioning period and have helped me to experiment with products since my big chop.

I did my big chop on August 26, 2012, and i didn’t think i would feel so rejuvenated and empowered by my short natural hair as i have always be…

en uncomfortable with short hair. With my natural hair, I feel even more beautiful, it’s as if it has brought my inner beauty on the outside.

Why did i go natural? Well there are two reasons, my godsister inspired me with how lovely her hair looked and she opened my eyes to the fact that natural hair was not just about twist and cornrows. The next reason, I have developed eczema on my scalp which made my scalp very sensitive to relaxers and i was over using no-lye relaxers as they made my hair looked very dry & frizzy no matter what i did. As a result, my hair was breaking and there was nothing that would stop it from breaking. So with my sister’s beautiful natural hair & the constant breakage in my hair, i decided to go natural. So far i have no regrets and i hope i never will. My aim is to maintain my natural locs for the rest of my life. “

NATURALISTA: Jewel Gray
“Bantu knot out! with a cute head scarf”

These girls are just beautiful. More are to come a little later…

Curly Fro Pictorial

16 Oct

This is a favorite hairstlye of mine. I don’t get to do it often because to set it is pretty tricky. I can’t let this style sit a day while I got to work, I have to do it overnight and then immediately take it down or I’ll look foolish at work. It’s just a nice retro looking curly fro. Gets a great deal of attention. Sometimes more than I want… :-/

HAVE YOU TRIED IT? Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker 14 in 1

26 Sep

I have never used this product before, but I have heard good things about it. I guess I’ve always thought of Hawaiian silky as being some texturizer or products for weave… IDK… Either way, it must be working, so did it work for you?
